Less than a month after a large earthquake hit northern Thailand, a new fault line has been discovered in Nan province.
Officials from the Department of Mineral Resources have been dispatched to investigate the tectonic fracture one day after another aftershock with a magnitude of 3.5 hit just outside of Chiang Rai. A department report said two recent quakes in Nan led to the discovery of the new fault line.
Meanwhile, Chiang Rai’s Ecclesiastical Provincial Governor, Venerable Phra Kru Pipat Rattanapong and representatives from the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University yesterday presented construction materials donated to quake-hit temples in the Mae Suai, Mae Lao and Phan districts of Chiang Rai Province, NNT reported.
