New BTS station to be added between Chong Nonsi and Surasak

A new BTS station, “Suksa Witthaya”, will be added between the crowded Chong Nonsi and Surasak station to support the increasing amount of passengers in the Sathorn area.

Surapong Laoha-unya, chief operating officer of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Ltd., said the new station will help ease passenger numbers at Chong Nonsi after the area has seen a growing number of residential and office buildings pop up ever since the skytrain opened.

Suksa Witthaya station will be in front of Sathorn Soi 12 near the UOB head office.

The station was meant to be included in the BTS Silom line, but a financial analysis at the time suggested it wasn’t worth the investment.

With a budget of THB450 million, construction is expected to start in 2017-2018 and will take around 12-18 months to complete.

The station is estimated to draw THB70 million profit per year.

In the near future, construction could start on “Sena Ruam” station, which will be located between Ari and Saphan Kwai stations, Prachachart reported.
