Nation TV issued an apology after one of their staff members dressed up like the now infamous Bangkok bombing suspect to film a news segment yesterday.
The inconsiderate public stunt caused an uproar on the scene and the TV crew ended up being evicted by police.
The Nation TV staffer wearing a yellow shirt, curly-haired wig, ridiculous sleeves, and carrying a backpack was yelled at by locals and tourists as soon as the news team arrived Erawan Shrine around 6pm yesterday.
The stunt was meant to be a re-enactment of the moment the suspect planted a bomb at the shrine on Monday that killed 20 and injured 135.
Adisak Limpa-rungpatanakij, President of Nation Broadcasting Corporation, issued a statement on Nation TV Facebook last night, adding that staff members involved would be punished.
“As the top executive member of Nation TV, I’d like to apologize for the news team who attempted to re-enact the event without considering the public sensitivity and showing the lack of respect to the death. Action will be taken,” the statement said.
