Bangkok police today were trying to identify a body found inside an empty water tank atop an abandoned building.
Phahon Yothin Police Station said a Sunday tip led them to find the badly decomposed remains on the 32nd floor of a deserted building on Ratchadaphisek Road. Police at the station would not disclose who discovered the body.
Officials arrived to find the desiccated corpse on its back inside the tank, clothed only in boxer shorts. The deceased was approximately 165 centimeters to 170 centimeters tall and likely dead at least six months, according to a police statement. Though authorities believe the body was male, they were not sure. No form of identification was found at the scene. Next to the corpse, officials found sneakers neatly placed on a piece of cloth.

The body has been transferred to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy, while police are also checking missing persons databases to see if they can find a match.
