An executive with Muang Thai Insurance and her husband were found dead in their condominium in the Sathon district Friday night in an apparent murder-suicide.
On Saturday, family members gathered to bury Kritaya Lamsam, 48, after she was apparently shot in the head by husband Reto Castellazzi, who then killed himself on the second floor of the Lamsam family’s condominium on Soi Narathiwat Ratchanakarin 7.
According to witnesses, Kritaya had been arguing with her 55-year-old husband before shots were heard. A security guard said he saw Castellazzi shoot several bullets from a balcony before going back inside the room. The guard said he heard another shot soon afterward, Bangkok Post reported.
Police believe a domestic dispute caused Swiss-born Castellazzi, who left a career as a computer engineer due to mental illness, to lose his temper and kill Kritaya before turning an 11mm pistol on himself.
Kritaya’s relatives said she was a keen shooter and had warned her to keep the guns away due to her husband’s instability.
