MRT to give away 1 million snazzy face masks

One million stylish, black and cobalt face masks will be given out to MRT commuters, starting today.

Because the cotton mask is the hottest freebie of the pandemic era, the masks will be given out at different MRT stations in phases now through August to reach as many passengers as possible.

The masks, branded in the subway’s Tron aesthetic, will be given away from 6:30am to 9am now through Sunday, while supplies last, at 11 stations including Chatuchak Park, Lat Phrao, Tha Phra and Huai Khwang. The full list of locations is available in Thai.

Passengers can get one mask each, but people who top up their MRT card by at least THB500 will get a mask (while supplies last).

That’s all Bangkok Expressway and Metro has announced so far, with details about July and August giveaways to be revealed later.

As businesses continue to reopen and commuters warily resume travel, the system operator has dispatched chemical shock troopers to spray disinfectant at all of its stations in recent days.
