Prepare your brain for yet another earth-shattering insight into Thai consumers: the most popular apps to download are games.
This amazing discovery, from market research firm GlobalWebIndex, shouldn’t really be a surprise, given the ratio of games to other apps such as chat or social media.
One quarter of all mobile phones used in Thailand are smartphones, and GlobalWebIndex wanted to inspire developers out there to create even more applications by asking the question: What applications are in Thai smartphones?”
According to the data, games such as Flappy Bird are the most downloaded app, followed by social networking and music apps.
Possibly the only interesting result is the low interest in location-based applications like those which forecast the weather, possibly because Thailand only has a few climate conditions to prepare for. Also TV applications are the least popular, which we’d like to wishfully interpret to mean the brainwashing, violent Lakorn business is on the brink of collapse.
