The Chinese Moon Festival is on tonight, and this year the date has an extra special meaning.

Typically set on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the Moon Festival this year coincides with the birthday of “Yue Lao,” the Chinese God of Love, according to celebrity fortune teller Todsaporn Sritula.

“Most people pray for love to this God in the hope he will bring a good life partner,” Todsaporn told Thairath. “For the taken, they can pray for a more stable, long-lasting love.”

Todsaporn gives specific instructions on how to effectively petition the cosmos with your love needs.

“Pray to him with a moon cake tonight from 7pm onward,” he explained. “Face east and light five joss sticks (for the prayer).”

After making prayers, one should eat the mooncake for blessing.
