This morning, a waiter at a Thai BBQ pork, or Mookata, restaurant on Soi Thawi Wattana 41 allegedly shot a patron to death out of anger at the latter’s rudeness.
Shortly after 12am today, Naphat Sriwongchar, a 35-year-old former navy officer, was pronounced dead at a hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to his chest. One witness told police that Naphat, who ran an herbal liquor stand next to the restaurant, had ordered dinner from the establishment. Upon the food’s delivery, Naphat scolded the waiter for not bringing enough silverware.
The waiter later returned with friends, started throwing rocks at Naphat and eventually fired a .38mm pistol at him. According to Dailynews, Thammasala police will summon the owner of the Mookata restaurant for interrogation in an effort to identify the criminal, who reportedly fled the scene via Phuttamonthon Sai 4 Road.
