Missing-and-found Brit paraded by cops, ‘apologizes’ to Thais

The Brit backpacker who was reported missing by his family was presented to a police press conference in Krabi today to apologize to the Thai people.

Jordan Jacobs, 21, was paraded in front of the Thai press at Koh Phi Phi police station today after his fake disappearance made international headlines this week.

It all started when the young Brit sent a Facebook message to his family that he was sorry and he could never see them again, before losing contact with them for five days.

He was found strolling on the beach yesterday, trying to apply for a diving job.

Pol.Lt.Col. Jessada Champoom, head of Muang Krabi police department, said the tourist was expected home for Christmas by his family, but really wanted to stay in Koh Phi Phi longer – so he lied to his family about his whereabouts.

Perhaps something got lost in translation.

Police said Jordan only had a little bit of cash left, so he wanted to get a job and stay longer.

Jordan was forced to apologize to the people of Krabi for damaging the area’s reputation and confirmed it was only a misunderstanding between him and his family, Sanook reported.
