Minimum taxi fee to remain at THB35

The Minister of Transport, Chach-chart Sitthipan, said in an interview that the minimum taxi fee will not be increased to THB50.

Taxi drivers had requested that their minimum fee be increased because of the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) price hike, but Chach-chart said the price increase will only effect households and not the transportation sector.

He added that only thirty-three percent of taxis are LPG carriers, and the increased cab fare would greatly affect the commuters.

The minister said that he would raise rates when cars are stuck in traffic, the Daily News reported.
