The supermoon was so overrated. This Friday, it’s time for the “micromoon” to shine.

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) asked the public to keep their eyes open for the micromoon at the end of the week, it’s the smallest moon of the year.

On Friday night, the moon will be furthest away from the earth at 406,402 kilometers. In Thailand, the micromoon will be fullest at 8:11pm. You won’t see ol’ micro again for another year after that.

To get you even more excited, this micromoon will be 14 percent smaller than a regular moon and 30 percent dimmer, but hey it’s not about the size, as long as it does the job.

So grab a friend who loves anticlimaxes, head outside on Friday night, squint at the sky for a while and ask them “Is that it?” and then go back inside.
