Milo is safe and sound: Missing orangutan found in cage in Phuket jungle

An orangutan who went missing from Phuket Zoo on Friday ahead of an official raid has been found safe and sound.

Milo, a 13-year-old orangutan, was found on Saturday night in a cage in Phuket jungle, Khaosod English reported.

Rescuers said the female orangutan was in fair health and was sent to the Wildlife Conservation Office in Phang Nga.

Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) had raised concerns about Milo after it discovered she had been housed behind bars at the zoo.

After a campaign gathered 5,000 signatures asking authorities to investigate, officials planned a raid on the zoo but when they arrived the orangutan had disappeared.

The owner of the zoo had reportedly released her into the rainforest before the officials arrived.
