Just like Garrett Popcorn and Green Tea Kit Kats five years ago, Milo Cube is the latest snack fad that Thais get their friends and co-workers to bring to them when they travel abroad.

Four people were arrested last week for conducting an online scam on Facebook, in which they made THB200,000 in just one day by promising they could sell people Milo Cube snacks for a low price.

Yesterday the Crime Suppression Division presented the four suspects behind the Facebook account “Kwam Song Jam,” who posted they could get you 24 packs of Milo Cube for only THB6,000, from the original retail price of THB7,500, Daily News reported.

Wuttipong Hemmala and Naritsara Limchai were identified as the predators who asked victims to transfer money to the bank account of the third suspect, Watcharin Chanhom. Watcharin and the fourth suspect, Nawapol Limchai, reportedly withdrew the cash from the ATM together.

The four suspects confessed and said they wanted the money to pay their debt. When they ended up making THB200,000 in one day, they shut down the Facebook account.

Milo Cube became a trending item on Thai social media recently. You can melt the cube in hot milk to create a drink or unwrap it and eat it as a candy.

The product was originally sold in the United Kingdom, Nigeria and Ghana, according to the website World of Buzz. Obviously, Milo Cube is trending in Malaysia as well, so the only way for Thais to get their hands on the snack is to buy from Malaysian vendors online.
