A 39-year-old mother held her son and daughter hostage overnight at her house in Bangkok’s Jom Thong district and only let them free after hours of negotiation with the police yesterday.
Bang Khun Thian police said that Sirinthip Bhahubamrung, who was diagnosed with a mental illness six months ago, was extremely stressed out of fear that her husband would admit her to a mental ward. She locked herself and her children up in a room on the second floor of the house and refused to talk to anyone, including her husband.
After Sirinthip agreed to release her children, she was sent to Somdej Chaophraya Hospital for a mental health checkup, INN reported.
