Toong Ngern, the tomcat who’s been lounging around a pier in Phang Nga’s Ban Laem Kaen, has won the hearts of netizens for his wisdom, attitude, and dust-filled fur that indicates life experience.

Standing out from the crew of cutesy Scottish Fold celeb cats, Toong Ngern has slowly become a sensation on Facebook. Who needs a fancy collar…or a shower? All cat lovers know that a cat is at its cutest when it’s just being a cat.

“Working night shift. My freaking paws are disgusting.”

A worker at the pier, who refused to tell Coconuts his name, writes funny captions to go with Toong Ngern’s pictures and posts them on the cat’s Facebook page.

He said he first posted a photo of grumpy Toong Ngern on a cat community page and that people loved Toong Ngern so much that they asked him to create a page for the feline.

“It’s white today, my freaking paw.”

He said Toong Ngern “probably” has an owner, but he likes to hang out at the pier occasionally.

“He likes to sleep at the pier in the morning, so I took his photos and started posting them. Personally, I’m also a cat person,” the worker said.

He said that the cat’s name came from other workers at the pier who called the cat “Toong Ngern,” which translates to “money bag” in English. It’s a popular name for a Thai pet, since it’s considered lucky.

“Highlight of the pier. He looks like he’s been holding grudges for ten consecutive lives.”

“This morning at the pier…my balls feel small.”
