Penpan Lamluang, a journalist with MCOT news, claimed she and her photographer were physically attacked by a group of male protesters Sunday at Democracy Monument who insulted Penpan for biased reporting.
Penpan said she was accused of reporting a false number of protesters (5,000) on Ratchadamnoen Avenue and intentionally making the crowd appear weaker. Penpan said a group male protesters gathered around her van, splashed water at her face, and punched her in the arm as they cursed at her. Her photographer was also pushed and kicked until the attackers were stopped.
Penpan reveals she never reported the crowd size as she came to Chanasongkram police station to have her injury recorded.
According to the footage aired on MCOT on Sunday at 4pm, Penpan never mentioned the number whatsoever, MCOT and Khaosod reported.
