Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea release Songkran safety videos

Players from Manchester United and Liverpool FC filmed a road safety campaign for Songkran, in association with Honda. The Zero Accident adverts have been playing on Thai TV over the New Year period. Chelsea also filmed a safety PSA in collaboration with Singha Beer.

Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Tom Cleverley and Nemanja Vidic talk into the camera and give their heartfelt message, saying that all they want is zero accidents this year over the Songkran period. To really send the message home they also hold up a Manchester United shirt with the number zero on the back. Manchester United’s video.

Liverpool’s advert is in the same vein, with Luis Suarez and defender Sebastian Coates passing on the safety message while holding a Liverpool shirt with the number zero on the back. Steven Gerrard is in the advert but he doesn’t say a word. Maybe the makers of the advert felt that his scouse accent would be too difficult for Thais to understand, so they left it to the Uruguayan players to pass on the safety message. Liverpool’s video

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea will be in Bangkok as part of their pre season tour of Asia in July (story here and here).
