If you were wondering why the BTS is plastered with Manchester United players brandishing Pepsi bottles wonder no more. Manchester United added PepsiCo to its long list of global sponsors on Wednesday. The Premier League champions said PepsiCo would be its soft drinks partner in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei, holding exclusive rights to use the club’s branding on PepsiCo products within these markets.
The two-year deal means PepsiCo becomes Manchester United’s 33rd global sponsor and allows the US soft drinks firm to tap into more than 38 million consumers in the seven countries, including 20 million in Thailand.
The club has lucrative sponsorship deals with companies ranging from US carmaker General Motors to Japanese marine engineering company Yanmar. This month it also signed a five-year deal with Russian firm Aeroflot to become its official airline. Singha is the official beer of Manchester United and Smirnoff is the club’s official responsible drinking partner.
