Police said they have caught the man who allegedly killed his girlfriend, stuffed her body into a suitcase, and then tossed it into a canal.
Sobiyon Sobirov, a 23-year-old from Uzbekistan, admitted to police that he struck Lyla Nilufar, 24, after she asked for money back from him and chastised his mother. Sobirov claims she died after falling down the stairs, but that he decided to dispose of her body.
Sobirov waited one day before he bought the suitcase and then dumped the corpse-filled bag into Bangkok’s Phra Khanong Canal. A security guard made the gruesome discovery at the Phra Khanong water pumping station.
Police arrested Sobirov at the Winning Condominium in Pridi Banomyong Soi 40 on last Friday as police plan to reward the security guard at a later date, The Nation.
