Man charged with stabbing Bangkok woman to death in her condo on Christmas

A man suspected of stabbing a woman to death Christmas night at her metro Bangkok home was arrested last night and charged with murder.

Nattachai Ardsamart, 31, was taken custody in Samut Prakan province after he allegedly broke into the woman’s room just before midnight Saturday, likely intending to rape her, and stabbed her as she attempted to fight him off. The woman, identified only as Intu-orn, 23, fled her seventh-floor room and yelled for help before collapsing and dying on the ground floor outside the elevator.

Police said that Nattachai, who lives in the same condominium building, confessed to the crime. He initially was charged with home invasion and murder, according to Col. Wirot Tadso, chief of Bang Phli police.

Police said they were determining whether to charge Nattachai with attempted rape.

A witness told police that he was home on the same floor Saturday night when he heard fighting, so he opened the door and saw Intu-orn, who was covered in blood, crying “Help! He broke into my room and stabbed me.” He then called the police.
