Malaysian investors want to build a one-stop cannabis entertainment center in Bangkok they hope to open next year.

“Cannaverse” would be a private, members-only club that will serve patrons over 20 with a hotel, swimming pool, weed dispensary, spa, restaurant, and karaoke room on Soi Sukhumvit 33.

At a Wednesday media preview, Cannaverse director Aric Ng said that guests will be able to smoke their weed in a “puff house.” Food and beverages also will be sold, including both cannabis-infused and weed-free beer.

“After dinner, if they don’t feel like going home, they can spend one night in one of our five hotel rooms,” Ng said.

Ng said they hope to complete the complex around February, but a four-month timeline sounded rabidly optimistic for all of its stated ambitions.

Wednesday’s event inking a joint agreement with Thai-registered HT Global Trade was attended by Malaysian ambassador to Thailand Dato’ Jojie Samuel and dozens of ASEAN business representatives. Ng and his partners, who are part of a group called Mycannabiz Global, are among the many foreign investors pouring money into the nascent Thai weed industry following its decriminalization in June.

Organizers hope that success in Thailand will give Malaysian investors confidence in cannabis – and help persuade Kuala Lumpur to reconsider its anti-cannabis stance.

“The Thai government is very brave, Thai people are allowed to grow. Within these two years, by 2024, our plan is to establish 500 rais of plantation,” Ng said. “We are doing this on a commercialized scale.”
