A manager at Major Cineplex Rama III has put the whole Major Cineplex Group – Thailand’s largest movie theater operator – in an uncomfortable position after she allegedly scolded and chased a patron out of the theater late last month.
The incident occured on March 30 while moviegoers were waiting for Pee Mak Phra Kanong to screen at 10:30pm. The weather this night was abnormally boiling. One man walked to the manager to complain about the situation, yet received arrogant and aggressive responses.
According to one witness who captured and uploaded the video on her YouTube channel “windchirps,” the theater’s air conditioning had serious problems. Instead of offering an apology, the manager attempted to undermine the man’s accusation by first raising her voice, then asking male staff members to escort the man out.
“The right duty of a manager is to take responsibility of every incident possible,” the videographer wrote in the description box. “The female manager, on behalf of Major Cineplex Group, should apologize the patron with manner and tell him that the theater will fix it soon.”
Since then, the video has gone viral and been picked up by the mainstream media. The online crowd has subsequently pressured Major Cineplex Group to investigate the incident, with some even going so far as to set up an anti-Major Cineplex Facebook page.
Yesterday, the administrator of Major Cineplex Group’s Facebook public page published an apology to its fans, saying that the situation has been handed over to management for investigation.
