After some extended delays, MahaNakhon, a new 314-meter skyscraper, will open its doors and officially overthrow Baiyoke Tower II as Thailand’s tallest building before year’s end.
The 77-storey building; which looks born from Tron’s grid and will house a five-star hotel, Ritz-Carlton luxury condos and a public observation deck; is on track to finally be completed, Sorapoj Techakraisi of Pace Development said yesterday.
“We intend to make MahaNakhon an architectural masterpiece which will stand tall in Thailand’s sky for another century,” Sorapoj said in a Matichon report. “We paid attention to every detail in the design. Each floor will have a different layout.”

When the building opens near BTS Chong Nonsi on Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Road, it will hang onto its claims as the tallest until the 615-meter Grand Rama IX Iconic steals it.
