PM Prayuth Chan-ocha used his own cash to install 20 blue-green ceramic pots holding lotus blossoms at Government House.

The vessels, which sit in front of the Thai Khu Fah building at the compound, are meant to bring luck to his regime and were reported to cost THB5,000 each.

Lotus has long been believed to bring money and good fortune to those that nurture the plants. It’s also been reported to be the PM’s favorite flower.

Bangkok Post talked to an unnamed astrologer who confirmed that the flowers and their pretty pots could bring the PM better luck. The astrologer also noted that, according to Prayuth’s birthdate, green is his lucky color for attracting respect and success.

“Beautiful! I’m happy and satisfied,” Prayuth said when he say the pots installed yesterday morning.
