An Indian man and his family were taken by surprise by a huge welcoming party yesterday at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he became the 28th million person to visit Thailand this year.

Kumar said it was his first time visiting Thailand and that he planned to travel to Bangkok and Pattaya with his family.

He is one of one million Indian tourists that has visited Thailand this year, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Sixty percent of visitors are from Asia, 30 percent from Europe and America, and the remaining 10 percent from other continents, state media reported.
