Traffic was halted in the capital’s Lat Krabang district when gas started pouring from a crashed LPG tanker.
At around 11am today the tanker collided with an 18-wheeler truck near Soi Lat Krabang 20 which flattened one of the tanker’s tires and caused gas to leak from a cracked valve. No injuries were reported.
Police temporarily sealed off the road in case the gas exploded and banned the use of walkie-talkies, cell phones and vehicles a 500-meter radius of the accident.
Firefighters and rescue volunteers were able to shut off the gas valve one hour later and water trucks were deployed to rinse gas from the surface.
Traffic resumed a half an hour ago.
