Low rate of breastfeeding leads hospital to host Thailand’s largest breastfeeding gathering

Healthcare providers are trying to convince more Thai women to breastfeed. To this end, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital recently hosted an event that gathered the largest number of breastfeeding moms together at one time.

The event, which happened simultaneously with a similar event in Bangkok, altogether consisted of 700 moms and has been recorded in Thailand’s Book of Records.

Did you even know that there was such a book? We didn’t either.

Anyway, the project was designed to provide support and bring attention to breastfeeding in Thailand. Apparently, Thailand’s breastfeeding rate is the lowest in Asia at only 12.3 percent, according to the Thai News Bureau.
