A love more than love: Bride’s devotion lives on at funeral wedding

Have some tissue in reach? Okay, let’s begin.

Next month Wilathini Pholsaena was to finally wed her beau of six years, Wirat Thongsing.

As it sometimes does, Wilathini’s birthday fell on Loy Kratong this year, and Wirat jumped on his motorbike to meet his bride-to-be for a romantic dinner to celebrate her 36th special day.

Perhaps he was in a hurry. Perhaps he was excited. Maybe he was just late. Whatever the reason, Wirat lost control of the bike, overshot a curve and went off the road. He was severely wounded. Later, at the hospital, he died.

That didn’t stop his love from putting on her traditional pink wedding costume last night to attend her “wedding” at the funeral of her fiance in Nakhon Pathom province. The reason? To fulfil his wish to see her as his beautiful bride.

The couple was together for six years, and Wirat’s mother said she had planned to throw them a big wedding in December. Even though the funeral guests were surprised by the appearance of Wilathini in her wedding gown at the funeral, mom says she she understands that her would-have-been daughter-in-law loved her son very much, Sanook reported.
