Lottery winner showers Udon Thani with cash, gold for her birthday

A woman who won a massive lottery jackpot decided there would be no better way to celebrate her 48th birthday yesterday than dropping some of it onto her neighbors.

Still flush from the THB90 million (US$2.8 million) she won in 2018, Suwanlee Panyasai threw a molam concert and hired a squadron of paramotor pilots to literally rain cash and gold from the sky onto her community.

“Today I want to return the happiness to my brothers and sisters and other guests who attended my party,” Suwanlee told local reporters. “I was proud to win the THB90 million lotto because the angels saw that I am a good person. So on this occasion of my birthday, I want to share my happiness with these lucky people!”

Ten paramotor pilots took to the sky to toss red bags containing THB20 banknotes and 30 gold chains worth a total of THB300,000. Although nearly 200 people were invited to join Suwanlee’s birthday party, hundreds turned up hoping to catch some loot.

“Anyone who didn’t get the gold would get a THB20 banknote at least,” Suwanlee said. “I wish them happiness and good things that will help them succeed in life.”

Suwanlee’s winning numbers for the top lottery prize in November 2018 were 149840.
