Lottery ticket sellers from throughout the country converged on the Government Lottery Office headquarters, Nonthaburi province, to tickets be sold wholesale for less than THB80.
Protesters complained they will have a difficult time paying THB83 for each ticket after they were increased 10 baht each by the junta.
The junta has also been pushing for an end to the long-standing practice of marking up ticket prices based on how “lucky” their numbers are. Selling lottery tickets employs a large number of unskilled or disabled workers.
Today’s protest blocked Sanambinnam Road, resulting in a massive morning traffic jam, Bangkok Post reported.
