Despite Thai people’s special relationship with numbers they find on trees and mushrooms, the lottery office feels scratch cards will do them some good.
The Government Lottery Office will soon propose their new potential product, scratch cards, to the Office of the Council of State for approval.
If all goes to plan, the new scratch cards will be sold for a lower price and are expected to attract gamblers from the underground lottery business, which means the Lottery Office could make THB40 billion more per year, according to Pol.Maj.Gen.Attakrit Thareechat, director of the Government Lottery Office.
He added the cards will also be a new option to citizens, who are tired of the old game and expensive tickets.
Meanwhile, the office is also waiting for the new government to approve the lottery vending machine project, as the organization plans to order thousands of machines that issue two or three digit numbers for a smaller win.
The organization expects to buy 4,800 lottery vending machines in June from France which cost about THB3 million each, Thairath reported.
