Lonely no more: Sad dog at Rama V pier gets new home

The lonely dog at Rama V pier, who was seen by locals looking out over the river over the last month as if she was looking for her owner, was adopted yesterday after her photo went viral.

Facebook user Thanawan Thongporn, whose original online post about the dog went viral, posted an update last night that the dog had moved into to her new home.

The dog was reportedly separated from her owner when she fell from their boat a month ago. Every day she would sit at the pier and look out over the Chao Phraya river like she was looking out for her home.

But the dog won’t be lonely anymore after her new owner picked her up at the pier yesterday in a Mercedes.

“There are so many people who offered to adopt her, but she hopped into the Mercedes,” wrote user Rungrot Kongpiban who shared photos of the dog at her new home.

The new owner, whose identity is unknown, decided to name the dog “Tha Ruea” or “Pier” in English. She said she would gladly return her to the old owner if they contacted her and wanted the dog back.

A happy ending.
