After all these years, Bangkok will finally have storage lockers at major train stations to accommodate travelers. Lock Box, a privately-run locker service, is set to launch at six more major train stations within two weeks.

You may have seen the yellow lockers at Makkasan Airport Link station starting last year and recently noticed more and more lockers being installed near MRT and BTS exits. The good news is that Lock Box aims to complete its coverage at 14 more major train stations very soon, according to company CEO and Founder Ithichai Poolvaraluck.

“It has been a year-long, ongoing process [to expand the service.] Our mission is ‘safe and easy’,” Ithichai told Coconuts, noting that Lock Box is the first locker service ever provided at Bangkok mass transit hubs.

Ithichai said Lock Box is expected to launch at Phaholyothin, Suthisan, Rama IX, Huai Khwang, and Phetchaburi MRT stations this week with service at Hua Lamphong station coming within two weeks.

The lockers operate outside the exits or MRT and BTS stations and provide 24-hour access. The minimum deposit is two hours, and you can leave your stuff for a maximum of three days.

Rate varies from THB20 to THB50 per hour, depending on the locker size. Daily rate starts at THB120, and the lockers accept only cash for now.

If you need to leave your luggage for more than three days, the company will remove your luggage and store it at the company’s warehouse. You can contact them to schedule a pickup from the lockers (for a fee).

So lockers, checked. Now we only need train stations to have bathrooms.
