A man and his son were viciously attacked by loan sharks with machetes and metal pipes loan last week after their wife and mother failed to repay a loan. The attacks were caught on surveillance cameras and have been distributed widely via social media and television.
The attackers were punishing a yet to be named borrower who agreed to an illegal due THB20,000 loan along with a repayment of THB4,000 plus an additional THB1,000 per day for a period of 24 days. When the borrower, a dessert vendor, fell ill she fell behind on her payments.
The debtor’s failure to repay her illegally obtained loan led the group of loan sharks to fling a homemade bomb into her house and then vandalize the family’s three motorbikes. Prior to ransacking her house the debt collector sent a chilling text asking, “Do you dare me?” An hour later the gang attacked the borrower’s husband and son.
The police were immediately notified and have issued arrest warrants for the attackers. Authorities are currently investigating the case, the Nation reported.
