Police are claiming that an attack on a restaurant in Pathum Thani’s Thanyaburi district was undertaken by loan sharks in a spirit of revenge.
At 11:30pm on Saturday, a group of 10 loan sharks swept down on the restaurant, smashing its rice cooker, kitchenware and furniture, claiming that they were doing so in retaliation for an unpaid debt on the part of the restaurant owner’s son.
The son, 30-year-old Niwat Pohdilok, had borrowed THB10,000 from the gang, then fallen behind on his payments. Niwat was supposed to repay the loan at a rate of THB500 per day over a period of 24 days.
The Bangkok Post reports that investigators believe the gang of loan sharks may have been operating out of Ayutthaya.
