A fresh-water alligator was found happily sunbathing beside the water reservoir that supplies a village’s tap water before getting caught by villagers in Nakhon Sawan province.
The reptile was found lying at the edge of the reservoir in Nong Bua district. It’s a male and estimated to be about five years old and 1.7 meters.

The little guy was found by a villager who went to the reservoir to fish, as he does everyday. Frightened, he dropped his fishing kit and called the police.
Later, Suttikarn Mahawijit, a staff member of the Fishery Department, brought her team of five members to capture the gator, which was floating in the middle of the pool without a care in the world. Chicken meat was used as a bait to lure the young gator over.

So far, no one knows where this gator came from. Officials believe it must have escaped from a farm or that someone just abandoned it there, fearing that they would face penalties for keeping it.
The alligator will be transferred to the Department of Research and Development of Freshwater Fisheries to be raised and bred, Sanook reported.
