Life-threatening ‘brain massage’ parlor shut down for good (VIDEO)

Need to clear your head? It’s not as simple as getting your brains a nice Thai massage.

Police have arrested the owner of a massage parlor on the outskirts of Bangkok that offer a “brain massage,” a so-called quick fix that promises to clear  junk from your brain, but it could actually be life-threatening.

Following viral videos of the treatment, police arrested Wisutthichai Wandee, 39, and shut down his massage parlor in Pathum Thani for good on Saturday after he failed to present a valid license.

One of the videos, which went viral last week, shows a masseuse rubbing a customer’s neck. Suddenly, the man starts shaking as if he is having a seizure.

“Good. You were asleep. The junk in your brains just came out. That was so good,” the narrator in the video said as the man stopped shaking so terribly.

Prof. Dr. Theerawat Hemachutha, a brain expert from the Faculty of Medicine of Chulalongkorn University, said that the massage blocks the main arteries in your neck, stopping the blood from reaching your brain and causing you to pass out.

He warned that the practice could put you in a coma in minutes.

Meanwhile, Dr. Yongsak Tantipitok, Vice-President of Thai Traditional Medical Practitioner Association, said that the pressing of the arteries in the neck is forbidden in Thai massage practice because it could be life-threatening.

He added that the video has caused the public to widely misunderstand the science of Thai massage, TNN reported.
