Life at Pak Khlong Talad to be showcased in photo exhibit ‘Humans of Flower Market’

An exhibition starting today showcases the people who made up the famous Pak Khlong Talad flower market before it was closed by City Hall earlier this year.

“Humans of Flower Market” is a photo exhibition by graduate and post-graduate architecture students from Silpakorn University to document the various relationships between the market and its inhabitants.

Pak Khlong Talad was first a fish market before turning into a flower market 60 years ago. The flower farmers from the Thon Buri side reached the market by boat and sold local flowers from the roadside. Over time, the products expanded to orchids and many imported flowers, reported the Nation.

“Nope. I just use telephones.” — Fon, a vendor at Pak Khlong Talad, said when asked if she sends mail

The exhibition opens today until May 15 at Yodpiman River Walk, next to the Pak Khlong Talad Flower Market.

Admission is free.
