If you still hit the dance floor with the “robot” or the “funky chicken”, here’s an opportunity to learn some better steps.

This weekend is “BK Dance Day” and some of the city’s finest international movers and shakers are gearing up to offer their expertise to the masses. They won’t be teaching just any old one-two step either, these classes explore everything from breaking to old school hip hop and street dance.

At the helm of this event is the passionate and larger than life Pan Pan Nakprasert, also known by his drag queen and performance stage name, Pangina Heals. Now, we’re not entirely sure what a Pangina is, but we’ll leave it up to your imagination.

Chances are you’ve probably seen the Pangina performing at Levels and Bash Nightclub. Even in the dark, this is a tough act to miss – she always moonlights in elaborate costumes and cuckoo headpieces with sinfully long eyelashes and high heels.

But beyond the getups, Pan Pan is actually a master of “waacking” – a form of street dance that originated during the disco days in L.A. Pan Pan’s pioneered the style in Thailand, winning competitions across Asia with her wild arm movements and fierce co-ordination. Recently, she also held workshops in Denmark and Japan. For those who want to learn dhe’ll teach a lesson on “waacking musicality” at the event.

Joining forces to teach with Pan Pan at “BK Dance Day” is the beautiful and lovely Debbie See a.k.a. Debbie Bazoo. The Thai pop star is giving two sessions on “vogue-ing” – a high attitude dance that originated from African Americans and Latinos in Harlem during the 80’s. This may sound like a mouthful, but it’s actually not a difficult concept – strike a series of poses like a supermodel, baby. The famous song by Madonna how “Vogue” became such a phenomenon.

Well-known choreographer Kru Art Asakorn is scheduled to give a sesh on jazz funk. Don’t forget to check out the dancehall and dancehall fusion classes, too. Classes are 200 THB each or buy five and get two free. It’s time to get stretching!
