Who watches the watch man? In a reversal for a peeping tom filming a woman shower in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao neighborhood, it turned out to be security cameras.
A suspect is in custody today after a woman complained to police that she noticed a phone pointed at her through her bathroom blinds during her get-clean time several nights ago, leading her amateur sleuth husband to track him down.
The husband – who along with his wife asked the police to protect their privacy – intercepted the perv Friday night outside their first-floor window. He made a grab for the man’s phone, but the dirty donald managed to escape.
Noticing a camera pointed at the scene of the creepy crime, the husband went to get the tapes and, lo and behold, found video of the voyeur shimmying up a pipe to film the illicit clip.
According to Ronnarong Kaewpetch, a victim’s rights attorney, the man not only lived upstairs from the couple but was a repeat offender who appeared three times in security footage doing the same thing to other residents.
The lawyer, speaking yesterday at the police station, said they were afraid the footage would end up on the digital black market.
Officers arrested the man and searched his phone. Police said he confessed responsibility under questioning but offered a Shyamalanesque twist to the tale: He was actually trying to film the husband because he’s into guys. At least that’s what he told him.
Whichever way he swings, the suspect has been hit with double obscenity charges.
