A python 3.5 meters long and weighing about 10 kilograms was rescued in Phuket last night after the snake became stuck while exiting a manhole cover in the sidewalk.
Kusoldharm rescue workers were notified by a passerby at 9:30pm that a snake was seen protruding from a drain cover in the island’s Saphan Hin area.

Rescue workers said that the python’s head was about 30 centimeters through the drain cover, and its feisty hiss kept them at bay while they tried to free the reptile.
Rescue worker Poonsab Sae-ueng said he and his colleagues took about 20 minutes to free the snake from its predicament.
“We used a snare to hold of the snake while we made the hole in the drain cover bigger so we could pull the snake out,” he said.
The snake was taken to the Kusoldharm Foundation head office in the nearby Poonpon area and will be released in a non-hunting area in Phuket.
