Papaya salad, locally known as somtam, is one of the most popular Thai dishes, and a recent survey revealed that the spicy Isaan salad comes at the highest average price in seaside Krabi province.
The Ministry of Commerce recently surveyed the prices of consumer products, including somtam, and found that the average price for the papaya salad is highest in Krabi at THB60 per dish (US$1.86) due to the fact that it is one of the top tourist destinations, according to CH7.
The ranking was followed by Rayong (THB55), Bangkok (THB35), and Si Saket (THB30).
