Koh Samui police admit to mishandling woman’s ‘suicide’

Provincial Police Region 8 commissioner Pol Lt Gen Yongyuth Charoenwanich admitted that his investigators who had handled the case of a woman who allegedly committed suicide last year were negligent and had failed the parents of the deceased.

Officers from Bo Phud police station, on Surat Thani’s Koh Samui, found that Natnaree Melgul had hanged herself last November.

Yongyuth said the investigators who worked on the case had been reassigned to other districts and that the woman’s former boyfriend and the rescue workers who were called to the scene of the death will undergo the polygraph tests.

Pol Lt Gen Yongyuth promised the death would be re-investigated to determine whether she had committed suicide or was murdered, the Bangkok Post reported.
