A Russian man’s ear was sliced off during a fight with a fish market vendor in Patong.
Mikhal Ryzov, 36, told medical workers the fight on Saturday was due to a dispute over correct change at the Marine fresh market.
He said he had bought fish for THB400 from a vendor, but when he did not receive change from his THB1,000 note an argument broke out.
Witnesses said the Russian punched the vendor, who responded by throwing a knife at Ryzov, slicing off his ear and slashing his right eye.
Medical workers attended to Ryzov at the scene before taking him to Patong Hospital, where his ear and eye were stitched back up.
Police have not yet commented on the case.
