Kiddie Country Cuisine: Clip of three Thai boys cooking a snake goes viral (VIDEO)

While we don’t have a ton of information about this food prep clip, the content seems to speak for itself.

In the 7-minute video, three boys, who all appear to be younger than ten, work together to skin, chop, and prepare a meter-long snake for their midday meal.

Shared by Thai Facebook page Clip Corner, it’s been viewed 80,000 times in one day, with most commenters simply having a laugh or congratulating the young boys on their self-sufficiency skills.

The caption for the video simply says, “Lunch menu.”

The boys seem to be quite culinary. They boil water and add lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and the entire snake. They proceed to remove the creature after boiling and work together to skin it and graphically remove its organs before placing the butterflied snake meat over a charcoal grill. Later the snake is cut up and added to a pot with vegetables and salt to create a soup. At the end, the boys seem quite proud of their creation, even lovingly garnishing it with basil leaves and lime before sitting down to their civilized plates of rice to share the soup.

Eating snakes, as well as certain lizards and frogs, is common practice in rural Thailand, though rarely seen in Bangkok.
