Khao Chang Phueak, a popular trekking destination in Kanchanaburi, has been closed after a woman fell 20 meters on her way down.
Supattra Polboon, 26, slipped and fell 20-meters while trekking with her friends in Thong Pha Phum National Park on Tuesday around 5:30pm. She suffered from a serious head wound.
Due to the natural state of the landscape, twenty rescue volunteers had to walk eight kilometers into the forest to help her. Supattra was found unconscious and with bruises all over her body. In the dark, rescuers successfully carried her out and sent her to a local hospital at 2am the next day, Komchadluek reported.
Supattra reportedly traveled in a group of five. They were supervised by a staff member at the national park.
At 1,249 meters tall, Khao Chang Phueak is the third highest mountain in Kanchanaburi. Despite the narrow and steep trekking trail, climbing Khao Chang Phueak is on many Thais’ bucket lists due to the stunning view.

On the night of the accident, Thong Pha Phum National Park announced the closure of Khao Chang Phueak for trekking and camping. The reason is that the dry season is approaching, and the area is prone to wildfires.
It has not been announced when Khao Chang Phueak will be open to visitors again.
