One of the most recognized group of female TV hosts is breaking up.

Television host Patcharasri “Kalamare” Benjamas announced via Instagram yesterday she will leave the famous morning talk show Puying Teung Puying (Women to Women) after being criticized for comments she made regarding breastfeeding.

After nine years hosting the Channel 3 program with three other co-hosts, Kalamare says she is getting her own show, which will air Mondays on the same channel, right after Puying Teung Puying.

While Kalamare jumps to the next step in her career, her exit from the last might not be starting on the right foot.

Last Friday, the group was accused of making inappropriate jokes about breastfeeding.

“Breastfeeding would cause wounds on my breasts,” Kalamare said during an on-air discussion. “I’d feel sorry for the father of my child.”

Another host joined the conversation to suggest that sustained breastfeeding “might make nipples look like yardlong beans.”

The four hosts were condemned online for their language and ignorance as many feel breastfeeding is important for infant health and a beautiful natural process.

Other than Kalamare, co-host Pimolwan “Pui” Supayang will also quit the show Monday.
