Junta wants you to watch ‘King Naresuan’ for free this Sunday

In a bid to increase happiness with some nationalist cinema, the junta and Sahamongkolfilm International will host free screenings of the period drama “King Naresuan Part 5” at all theaters in Thailand on Sunday.

The movie series, which mixes nationalist propaganda with a dramatically reimagined history, has consumed much of Thailand’s arts funding for cinema since it began seven years ago.

But free is free: The screenings start at 10:30am on Sunday. Netizens can obtain tickets in front of the cinema, which are limited to one per person, so tell your date/friends to be on time.

Those who’ve seen the movie say there’s no need to see the first four installments to understand No. 5.
