‘Jealous’ former airman accused of killing ex and her new lover at Bangkok home

A former military officer accused of shooting his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend to death after the latter goaded him with intimate photos was arrested by police last night.

Police said Morakot Prapharot, 24, fled to the north metro province of Pathum Thani after killing the couple early Tuesday morning in a gated community on Rama VI Road. He stands charged with murder and weapons violations.

Morakot, a former air force conscript, reportedly told police he was fueled by jealousy when his ex’s new boyfriend, Korakot Muenprap, sent pictures of the two together and challenged Morakot to do something about it.

At around 5am on Tuesday morning, Morakot allegedly went to the couple’s home in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district where he met Korakot’s mother as she was washing dishes.

Asked if Korakot was home and thinking Morakot a friend, she opened the door and told him to go upstairs to Korakot’s bedroom. Morakot entered the bedroom where he shot both Korakot, 25, and a 24-year-old woman identified only as Fah before fleeing the scene.

The gun he used was an 11mm handgun he bought during his military service. Forensic examiners found multiple gunshot wounds to the couple.

During questioning, police said Morakot revealed he had been in a relationship with Fah during his service before she broke up with him and went to stay with Korakot. He tracked her down to Korakot’s place by asking around the neighborhood.
